Morcal City Hunt
TL;DR: I explored how VR can create meaningful conversations about the future of drones in cities. Through research, prototyping, and user testing, I helped develop a more realistic and engaging experience focused on empathy, interaction, and different perspectives.

About the project
Morcal City Hunt is a VR experience about how drones might become part of everyday city life. Players move through a shared urban environment and encounter situations involving privacy, surveillance, medical deliveries, and package delivery. Each scenario gives people something concrete to react to, rather than asking them to discuss the topic in the abstract.
The aim was not to tell people whether drones are good or bad. We wanted to make it easier for a group to compare opinions and talk through what they would be comfortable with. During development, we tried different ways to introduce the scenarios and found that people needed a little structure before the conversation could get going. That led to icebreaker prompts, clearer choices, and more grounded situations. We presented the prototype to our stakeholder and documented ideas for future development.
What I explored
I focused on the medical drone scenario and looked at real AED drone services to make it feel plausible. I also worked on the icebreaker prompt, drone design, Google Street View environments, and the choices players encounter. Building the prototype in ShapesXR let us test the experience early and change things quickly.
Testing helped us spot moments where the instructions or decisions were unclear, so we adjusted the flow and made the scenarios easier to understand. I learned that immersion alone does not make an experience engaging: people also need to know what they can do and feel comfortable taking part. That balance shaped many of the decisions in the final prototype.
